Dr. Michael B. Austin, D.O. Dr. Austin is originally from New Jersey, and moved to Florida over 30 years ago. He attended the University of South Florida where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Chemistry. He then attended NOVA Southeastern University and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Dr. Austin’s background encompasses Family Practice, Emergency and Rehabilitative Medicine, Bariatric Medicine and Aesthetics. With over 15 years experience as a Board Certified Emergency Physician, he has also become certified in Aesthetic Medicine Procedures. He administers Botox, facial fillers such as Perlane & Restylane, and performs innovative Laser Procedures. From his earliest work in medicine, Dr. Austin has always been concerned and has seen the effects of what obesity does to the human body. He has treated numerous people in an emergency setting for diseases that occur primarily due to obesity and poor eating habits. Because of this experience, he saw the need for a program that would be realistic, healthy, results-oriented and sustainable for long-term use. He focuses on teaching healthy eating habits while achieving healthy weight loss. Dr. Austin firmly believes the answer is not just in a pill. He developed his program with the purpose of teaching people how to eat the foods that are already available to them and implementing proper exercise. Dr. Austin is a member of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Society and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. He served active duty in the Air Force as an Emergency Physician, and was involved in Operation Desert Storm. He also served as one of General H. Norman Schwartzkopf’s personal physicians while in Saudi Arabia. For 9 years he was a reserve Deputy Sheriff in Hillsborough County. When he lived in New Jersey he was heavily involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and became the first Youth Coordinator from Jerry Lewis’ home town. |
