Dr. Michael B. Austin, D.O.

Dr. Austin attended the University of South Florida, in Tampa, were he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. He then attended NOVA Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Ft. Lauderdale, where he obtained his Osteopathic Medical Degree.

Dr. Austin's background encompasses Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitative Medicine and Bariatrics. He has over 15 years experience as a Board Certified Emergency Physician.

Dr. Austin fully understands the complications of being overweight and obese as he has seen and treated the diseases associated with it in an emergency setting. This gives him a unique perspective relating to patients who are overweight or obese.

Dr. Austin is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and the Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Society where he is the current Vice President and board member.

Dr. Austin believes that a lifestyle change is the major item that needs to be achieved in order for a person to become healthy. He helps his patients achieve this with adequate and proper teaching, behavior modification and motivation techniques.
