Care Tips After Having A Permanent Lip Procedure At Our Permanent Makeup Tampa FL Center
Directly after your permanent lip procedure, your lips may appear to be uneven or crooked; this is because the lips may be swollen. Do not be concerned, the swelling will diminish within 10-24 hours with the use of ice. Your lips will then be evenly shaped and take on the look you originally desired.
- Never use your fingertips to apply Vaseline to the lip area where permanent cosmetics have been performed. Use a clean Q-tip to apply the Vaseline. Never use your fingers!
- Keep your lips well lubricated with Vaseline for at least one week, longer if your lips have not yet healed. Never peel or pick off any crust that may appear on your lips, you will be removing the pigment.
- We recommend that your drink through a straw for the first 4-6 days. Do not let salty, acidic, oily, spicy or greasy foods touch the permanent lip area. Avoid citrus fruits and juices while the lip procedure is healing. If you insist on eating and drinking these items, be sure to make certain the food does not touch your lips.
- Avoid licking and wiping of your lips during the healing process; gently pat your lips with a napkin. Do not traumatize or rub lip-pigmented areas, no heavy kissing.
- When brushing your teeth take extra care to avoid toothpaste contact with the permanent makeup lip area. It is possible for the toothpaste to pull out pigment in the lip vermilion.
- Avoid the sun, sauna, Jacuzzi and swimming in chlorinated water as well as the ocean until the permanent cosmetic procedure has fully healed.
- Avoid strenuously exercise activity until the procedure has healed, especially if you are prone to headaches.
Note: As with any permanent cosmetic procedure, this is a process. Please do not expect results immediately after the procedure; patience is crucial. Your “touch up” session will take care of any flaws. It will take a few weeks before you can fully enjoy your desired results, which you will love and appreciate for years to come.
If not all steps provided above are followed after having your permanent lip procedure, it is possible for an infection to occur. Signs of an infection could include such discomforts as increased redness and or swelling, soreness or pain, continual bleeding, discharge of fluid, fever, heat/warmth at site, red streaks originating from site, swollen glands. Should any of these symptoms occur, please seek medical attention.
