Additional Permanent Eyeliner Care after Your Permanent Makeup Procedure At Our Tampa FL Office

Immediately following your permanent eyeliner procedure; it is possible that the eyelids may or may not appear slightly swollen and/or bruised; it is all right to cover this up with your concealer. Due to the possibility of swelling from the permanent eyeliner procedure, the eyeliner may appear to be much thicker and darker than you had originally desired, even when soft colors are used. DO NOT WORRY! After a day or so of your permanent eyeliner procedure, the liner will become the desired thickness and even itself out as the swelling continues to go down. However, the color will remain dark until the healing process is complete, which is generally a 7 day period. After the seven days have passed since having your permanent eyeliner procedure, your eyeliner may be too light. This is expected, and the reason we give you a complimentary “touch up session” so you can achieve your desired look.

Aftercare Information Regarding Your Permanent Eyeliner Procedure:

  • Avoid strenuously exercise activity until the procedure has healed, especially if you are prone to headaches.

  • Never let direct spray from the shower hit the area where permanent cosmetics have been applied for one week. Allow the water to run gently down your face.

  • Do not curl your eyelashes or wear any makeup on the treated area for one week after your permanent eyeliner procedure. You may wear eye shadow but use extra care not to get any off it on the procedure area.

  • Any possible itching in the permanent eyeliner area can be alleviated by pressing with a clean Q-tip. Never pick, rub or peel off any pigment in the permanent cosmetic procedure area during the healing process - this will remove the pigment. A light peeling may occur, which is also normal.

  • Avoid the sun, sauna, Jacuzzi and swimming in chlorinated water as well as the ocean until the permanent cosmetic procedure has fully healed.

  • Never use your fingertips to apply Vaseline to any area where a permanent cosmetic procedure has been performed. Use a clean Q-tip to apply the Vaseline. In addition, use a wet clean Q-tip to remove any excess pigment from eye area. Never use your fingers!

  • Gently apply a light coating of Vaseline 4-6 times daily until the permanent eyeliner has healed – generally, this lasts about one week. This will keep dust particles from getting into the pigmented area and allows the pigment to heal properly in the skin. We also recommended that you apply an additional light coating of Vaseline to the eyeliner before sleeping and bathing.

Note: As with any permanent cosmetic procedure, this is a process. Please do not expect results immediately after the procedure; patience is crucial. Your “touch up” session will take care of any flaws. It will take a few weeks before you can fully enjoy your desired results, which you will love and appreciate for years to come.

If not all steps provided above are followed after having your permanent eyeliner procedure, it is possible for an infection to occur. Signs of an infection could include such discomforts as increased redness and or swelling, soreness or pain, continual bleeding, discharge of fluid, fever, heat/warmth at site, red streaks originating from site, swollen glands. Should any of these symptoms occur, please seek medical attention.
