Care Tips After Having An Areola Repigmentation Procedure At Our Permanent Makeup Tampa FL Center
Please Follow These Simple Guidelines After Your Areola Repigmentation Procedure
Immediately following an areola repigmentation procedure, the area may appear too dark with an unnatural “drawn in” appearance. Once healing is complete you will be able to fully appreciate the color and softness of your areola repigmentation procedure. It is also possible that the color will heal too light, which can easily be corrected during your complimentary touch up session.
Additional aftercare information regarding you Areola Repigmentation procedure:
- Never use your fingertips to apply Vaseline to the area where the areola repigmentation procedure has been performed. Use a clean Q-tip to apply the Vaseline. In addition, use a wet clean Q-tip to remove any excess pigment from the area. Never use your fingers!
- Gently apply a light coating of Vaseline 4-6 times daily until the areola repigmentation has healed – generally, this lasts about one week. This will keep dust particles from getting into the pigmented area and allows the pigment to heal properly in the skin. We also recommended that you apply an additional light coating of Vaseline to the Areola Repigmentation area before sleeping and bathing.
- Never let direct spray from the shower hit the areola repigmentation area for one week. Allow the water to run gently down your body.
- Any possible itching in from the areola repigmentation area can be alleviated by pressing with a clean Q-tip. Never pick, rub, or peel any pigment in the areola repigmentation procedure area during the healing process - this will remove the pigment. A light peeling may occur, which is also normal.
- Avoid the sun, sauna, Jacuzzi and swimming in chlorinated water as well as the ocean until the areola repigmentation procedure has fully healed.
- Avoid strenuously exercise activity until the procedure has healed, especially if you are prone to headaches.
Note: As with any permanent cosmetic procedure, this is a process. Please do not expect results immediately after the areola repigmentation procedure; patience is crucial. Your “touch up” session will take care of any flaws. It will take a few weeks before you can fully enjoy your desired results, which you will love and appreciate for years to come.
If not all steps provided above are followed after having your areola repigmentation procedure, it is possible for an infection to occur. Signs of an infection could include such discomforts as increased redness and or swelling, soreness or pain, continual bleeding, discharge of fluid, fever, heat/warmth at site, red streaks originating from site, swollen glands. Should any of these symptoms occur, please seek medical attention.
